At Christina Tillery Consulting, our mission is to empower youth—especially those from historically marginalized communities—by bridging research with practical strategies. Through training, resources, and advocacy, we work to create equitable, thriving environments where every young person can flourish.

Hello! I’m Christina A. Tillery, Ph.D, a community educator and scholar focused on enhancing youth mental health and well-being through Christina Tillery Consulting, LLC.

I earned my B.A. in History from the College of William & Mary and began my career teaching secondary social studies. After four years in the classroom, I transitioned into school counseling, earning my M.Ed. in School Counseling in December 2016. With over a decade of experience in education, I now work as a consultant partnering with schools, nonprofits, and community-based organizations to improve services for young people.

In 2022–2023, I was honored to be recognized as Virginia’s School Counselor of the Year, an experience that deepened my commitment to advocating for culturally responsive and equitable practices that truly support youth. I hold a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Virginia Commonwealth University, where my research focuses on creating safe, healing-centered spaces for Black girls and girls of color through youth participatory action research (YPAR) and visual storytelling methods.

Connection is at the heart of my work. I believe in the power of story, community, and youth voice to create lasting change. This belief fuels everything I do—from public speaking to curriculum design to mental health training—and keeps me grounded in purpose.

Outside of work, I enjoy watching things grow, analyzing film and television, wading in water, and diving into new topics as a lifelong learner. I also remain deeply committed to community service and collective care.
